Hi. I'm Eric. And you've found my personal site. Who knows why you're here, but welcome anyway. Here's some random factoids to satisfy the voyeuristic impulse that led you to load this page:

I've been married two years now (as of May 31st) to a lovely gal by the name of Lisa, and we're now living in the far north suburbs of Chicago. I'm also now starting my third year of being a dad, to a great little guy named Morgan, age 8 now. (!)

When I'm not doing the daily grind thing and left to my own devices, I'm typically doing one of the following: listening to music, reading a good book, surfing the web, blogging, ratcheting up my carpel tunnel symptoms with my Xbox, cooking or baking, catching a movie, playing a computer game or two, and abusing unsuspecting innocents with my digital camera. Other things I enjoy include: traveling to visit friends and family, creek-stomping, canoeing, and camping. Usually not all at once, though.

Music: I've decided I'm in favor of it. Moreoever, a little while back I put an in-dash MP3 player with direct iPod hookup in my Isuzu Trooper, and I'm still absolutely in love with it. (Well, it and the amps & speakers it's connected to.) Being able to listen to just about any music I own at obscene volume levels in an instant makes me insanely pleased with myself. If there were any less sanity involved, the result would be evil-overlord-style cackling, I swear. It's like having your own private radio station, playing whatever kind of music you're in the mood for. I've also somehow wound up being a budding music collector, of sorts. I think at last count I had somewhere around 800 CD's spanning various genres: rock, alternative, downtempo, electronica, celtic, and classical, mostly.

Movies: I love film. Some favorites include: Fight Club, Memento, Minority Report, Donnie Darko, Lord of the Rings (any of the three, really), American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Meet Joe Black, Last of the Mohicans, Mulholland Drive, The Life of David Gale, The Myth of Fingerprints, Pi, One True Thing, The Usual Suspects, Oscar & Lucinda, The Matrix, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. (And everyone has to have a guilty-pleasure movie; mine's The Craft.)

Literature: I like (and have been influenced by) a number of great writers: Douglas Coupland, Amy Bloom, Norman Rush, Nick Hornby, Jane Smiley, Margaret Atwood, Neal Stephenson, Connie Willis, William Gibson, Greg Bear, James Morrow, and Terry Bisson. My most recent favorite is Bruce Sterling.
