It's not terribly shocking, but I still can't believe the Queen Mother died. She's been around so long, she almost seemed immortal or something. Adjacently, given how much my TV was on Sunday and Monday nights, I can't believe that it took me four days to find out. I guess that confirms the non-international scope of most of America's local TV news.

On a post-April-Fools note, here's a top ten list of the best April Fools pranks ever performed, from the Musuem of Hoaxes. Egads.

Bonus link today from my friend Chad, who sent me to some fun Easter facts.

Good: First off, I finally went digital. Today I purchased a Nikon Coolpix 5000. "Wow!" on two fronts: (1) it hurts the wallet in a way one would typically associate with the phrase 6 months same as cash, but (2) it has some killer features for the price. I decided that this (and a flatbed/film scanner) would be my technology purchases for the year, and that I'd go one more year with my Titanium G4 powerbook before upgrading it.

Bad: April Fools' Day is annoying. Slashdot and other sites were full of bogus stories that were funny for about the first 30 seconds. Then everywhere I went thereafter I didn't know if I could trust what I was reading. Irritating.

Weird: I stepped on the brakes today at a stoplight, leaving a gap to let someone in opposing traffic turn into Wendy's in front of me. As I'm returning the guy's enthusiastic wave, I realize it's my good friend Wes. I just went to see Blade II with him and his wife Angela Friday night. Very odd. I don't normally see people I know wandering around in traffic. Now I wonder if I don't pass people I know all the time, but fail to notice them. Think about it -- how many of your friends' cars can you identify at 35mph+?
