About as creepy as they come, Pellington did a good job of balancing what you do and don't know (or see) in order to maintain tension throughout this film, much like the better episodes of the X-Files. Acting was pretty top notch, even for Richard Gere, who -- like Tom Cruise -- tends to remain himself-in-the-role-of-someone-else in everything he does. Still, best nods go to Laura Linney and Will Patton who really lent substantial talent when they were onscreen.
I felt the story could've been tightened up a bit in places; there were a couple of instances where I mumbled to myself, "Well, if that's true, then what about this?" On the whole, however, the ideas put forth (especially considering they're based on true events) were genuinely creepy. Don't watch this movie right before bed, is my recommendation -- but definitely do rent it.
